Introduction | |
Full name: Lysine Methyltransferase 2B.
KMT2B is a member of MLL(mixed-lineage leukemia),encodes a protein which contains multiple domains including a CXXC zinc finger, three PHD zinc fingers, two FY-rich domains, and a SET domain,is ubiquitously expressed among adult tissues,is required for mono- di- and trimethylated H3K4 especially H3K4 trimethylation at bivalent homeotic,is essential for mouse embryonic development(1-6).
|
Function and Interaction | |
KMT2B is a component of Mll/Trx proteins, methylates mono- di- and trimethylation on histone H3K4,plays a central role in beta-globin locus transcription regulation by being recruited by NFE2,plays an important role in controlling bulk H3K4me during oocyte growth and preimplantation development(2,4,6,7).KMT2B is required for RNA polymerase II association and protection from DNA methylation at the MagohB CpG island promoter(8).KMT2B mediates hippocampal histone 3 lysine 4 di- and trimethylation and is a critical player for memory formation(9).
