Introduction

Full name: Dpy-30,Histone Methyltransferase Complex Subunit. DPY-30 was discovered as an essential component of the C.elegans dosage compensation machinery that reduces X chromosome transcript levels in hermaphrodites(XX) and play important roles in worm development and behavior(1-2),binds directly with ASH2L and is a common subunit of all the MLL complexes which is involved in the methylation of histone H3 at Lys-4(3-4),is implicated in the endosomal transport of specific cargo proteins(5).

Function and Interaction

DPY-30 is a core subunit of the SET1/MLL histone methyltransferase complexes, modulates H3K4 methylation in vitro, and directly regulates chromosomal H3K4 trimethylation (H3K4me3) throughout the mammalian genome(3,6).DPY-30 and SET1/MLL complex-mediated H3K4 methylation,as a component of the bivalent mark,at developmental genes during the ESC fate transitions(3).DPY-30 is a ubiquitous factor that is likely to promote the hermaphrodite-specific association of DPY-27 with X by affecting the activity of a sex-specific dosage compensation gene(2).DPY-30 is required for normal motility, organizing duplicated subunits in the radial spoke stalk and formation of a symmetrical spokehead(7).
